As a finance major, you'll examine the sources and uses of funds within an organization as well as calculate returns and risks associated with capital budgeting.
Well respected in the business community, BW's Finance program prepares you for success. You'll learn from professors whose backgrounds include decades of corporate, government and nonprofit experience both national and international in scope.

CURRICULUM
A comprehensive rigorous program, finance is offered as a major and minor. You'll examine the sources and uses of funds within an organization, the returns and risks related to an organization's working capital, and capital budgeting decisions.
The finance major prepares students to:
- Recall business terms, concepts, and principles and effectively communicate these, through both oral and written means, using the language of business
- Utilize critical thinking skills to analyze information and produce improved business decisions and generate effective recommendations for better course of action or opportunity for improvement
- Demonstrate relevant application of business knowledge
- Exhibit high standards of ethical awareness and conduct and recognize ethical issues businesses/people face in today's world
- Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the content areas and tools necessary for a finance professional
- Analyze financial decisions using tools, techniques, and theory commonly used by finance professionals

Investment Club
Students experience real life investing by managing a six-figure portfolio of real stocks from the BW Endowment. The students make decisions based on their own research of equity securities. Members have attended a shareholders meeting, visited the New York Stock Exchange and competed with other colleges in academic competitions. A number of club alumni have received internships and employment at local and national firms specializing in finance and stock analysis.
